People connect with people
You’re doing it wrong, Friday thoughts
I’ve been noticing a trend online recently. People are building brands in a strange way. Larger brands (corporate level) are this way because for the most part there’s too many parts that make it who it is. You don’t buy Nike shoes from John Donahoe you buy the swoosh. This is an amazing place to be, but ultimately a brand end goal. When Apple was in it’s prime, you didn’t buy from apple. You bought a piece of Steve Jobs legacy. Think different, be a rebel, subvert the status quo. This was you connection to the man who spearheaded one of the most successful tech companies to date.
Thing is, MOST businesses are not at that scale. The people within are the driving force.
Think about your business or brands conversions. Did they happen because you have the right colours, font, photos or logo? Or did they happen because someone in your team made a connection.
People only buy from people they KNOW, LIKE or TRUST.
This will come as a shocker but pretty much most of the business you acquire was through connection. Humans are very social beings, and love to group up. This can be confusing to the marketers but ultimately comes down to this: People only buy from people.
What does this mean for you? Action points.
With this in mind, look at your out-bound marketing media. Is it helping people connect or is it just showing what you do? Try to incorporate a more human touch into your marketing & brand. If Tik Tok taught us anything, it’s that we crave interaction more than ever now. Work on building interaction as a key metric and watch what happens.
